Marleen's Yoga Logo

Marleen's classes are non-purist yoga classes that appeal to students of various ages and fitness levels. The yoga we practice is asana-based, which means it focuses on the physical aspects of yoga, rather than the spiritual ones. This physical practice renews, invigorates and heals the body, stretching and strengthening the muscles, joints and spine and directing blood and oxygen to the internal organs. Exercise your body and mind to increase strength, flexibility and balance! All classes are mixed level and beginners are welcome. Please bring a sticky mat to class.

I definitely enjoy your classes and need to go to more. When I leave I feel energized as well as at peace. It makes my whole day more enjoyable.

Mondays - Intro to Yoga- 9:30 am
This class will offer a foundation to a yoga practice - basic standing, seated, and supine poses, as well as shoulderstand. These classes will be taught in the Iyengar yoga tradition, one of the world's most widely practiced forms, emphasising correct alignment of all parts of the body within each pose.
This precision builds strength and stamina – balance and flexibity – and a sense of well being, achieving meditation in action.

Yoga Basics - 7:00 pm
On Mondays we delve a little deeper into some of the basics of yoga. This can take the form of detailed alignment work, focus on breath, or energy, or whatever yoga issue you have been wondering about (if you have suggestions on what you'd like to see covered in these classes, please let me know here). These classes will be suitable for beginners who are just starting to grasp the whole yoga thing, but also very valuable for more experienced students to work on details. There will be lots of hands on adjustments in this class!

Tuesdays - Deep Stretch - 7:30 pm
Tuesday's class will be called Deep Stretch. In this class we'll focus on opening the body with multiple, longer held stretches. This class is great for tension release and for those who feel tight and inflexible. Suitable for beginners, but as the more experienced students know: you're never done opening the body!

Wednesdays-Yoga for Every Body 9:00 am

Thursdays - Evening Flow - 7:30 pm
Thursday's class is going to be more restorative in nature. Half the class we'll be doing a gentle flow and then we'll do a few long, relaxing poses, supported by bolsters, blankets, etc. to achieve deep relaxation. This will be a real treat!
Prenatal Students Welcome

Fridays - Active Flow- 9:00 am

Saturdays - Yoga With Sandra 8:30 am
The science/art of Yoga emphasis bringing together the body, mind, and spirit into the experience and understanding of oneself within the wholeness of life. Through this bodies become healthier, minds become clearer and quietly focused, and hearts more open and receptive. With this in mind, Sandra's focuses her classes on creating the experience of balance, harmony, and well-being on all levels.

I recently got back in to yoga with my daughter. We love Marleen's no pressure attitude and caring guidance. We just got back from Yosemite and I know the only reason I made it to Nevada Falls was because of yoga!
Sincerely, Kirsten

What to Wear
You should wear clothes that allow freedom of movement but that aren't too loose. Yoga is normally done in bare feet.

One of the things I really appreciate about Marleen's classes is that she checks in with everyone at the start of the class to see if there are any specific areas of the body that people would like to work on or have any injuries that they need to be careful about. It's nice to have a personalized class that focuses on the needs of the participants.
