The Prenatal Series runs at regular intervals. Please check the calendar for ongoing and upcoming series. We'd love to have you join us!

Sundays 11 am -12.15 pm

Special arrangements can be made for those of you close to your due date.

Let me know as soon as possible whether you will join us.

This yoga class is safe, fun and healthy for women that are enjoying an uncomplicated pregnancy. We focus on yoga poses that will help your body cope with going through the changes of pregnancy and prepare it for giving birth, while we avoid or modify the poses that are not suitable for this phase of your life. The class can be started in any trimester and continued until the big day, although the earlier in your pregnancy you start the greater the benefits you will enjoy! The class is a mix of strengthening and stretching exercises, while we also pay attention to breathing and relaxation techniques. Many of the poses we do are aimed at maintaining proper posture and relief of ligament pain, lower back pain, swollen ankles and other pregnancy related ailments. We use props when needed and students are encouraged to listen to their bodies when rest is needed.

Hi Marleen,
I feel so badly that this is a tardy email, but I'm sure all of the moms understand. =)

I had a little boy last Monday, June 7 and am thrilled to announce that he is very healthy and a pretty easy-going little guy. Labor was everything opposite of what I expected but I made the best of it and had a sweet boy to look at at the end to make it all worthwhile. He was 7lb 11oz and 19 3/4 in long.

I truly can't thank you enough for the incredible yoga classes and support you created for me and the other girls every Sunday. Not only did I feel physically prepared and relaxed but I love the fact that it felt like a genuine, caring community from the very beginning. I love how you explained what was happening to our bodies and why the various positions and stretches you were showing us were benefiting our bodies and babies. Your calming demeanor helped to put my doubts and fears to rest and I really appreciated your guidance throughout the entire course. You are incredible at what you do and women are lucky to have you be a part of their pregnancy. Thank you again and best of luck with everything. I look forward to rejoining your yoga classes in the near future.

Cheers,
- Megan

Thank you so much for the wonderful experience of Prenatal Yoga. I think if it wasn't for your class and the girls my pregnancy would have been very difficult. I loved the experience and am sad that it is over.

Sure do miss your weekly classes, the peace, community and stretching that you offered! Tell those ladies to appreciate it while they have it! I will come back someday, to visit, introduce the baby, and eventually, to do some yoga!

Yoga and the Birth Experience
Most of us read everything we can find about giving birth before we go through it ourselves, trying to get an idea of what it is going to be like. We follow classes at our local hospital and talk to many women who have gone this road before us. Most of us will have ideas on what we would like our birth experience to be like and many of us will still be surprised one way or another.

The Yoga way of giving birth is focused on relaxation through breathing to break the fear-tension-exhaustion-pain-fear cycle and on certain poses that can help us relax and cope with pain. The Yoga way of giving birth also includes the absence of judgment, there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way of giving birth, we all do a wonderful job!

I teach a Couples Class for Prenatal students and their birth partners that is strongly recommended as an addition to your prenatal yoga classes and the informational classes you take in your hospital. The class will offer you, and especially your birth partner, an amazing amount of practical advice that can transform your birth experience. Let me teach your partner this valuable information on how to support you best and help you go through this life altering experience without  fear and unnecessary pain.

The class can be taught at a time of your choosing (typically during the 8th month of pregnancy)  in your own home. It lasts approximately 90 minutes and costs $60 per couple. Don’t miss out and call me early in your third trimester to schedule the class: 707-747-5103.
